Many
years ago the Lord gave me a vision of myself preaching to
thousands of people and He then spoke to me and said, "I
am going to take you around the world." Several years
after that I received confirming words from prophetic individuals
about the initial whereabouts of my journeys. One individual
pin-pointed the location and continent in which we would touch
first and the word in which He spoke was of this nature. "And
your feet shall touch the soil of Africa, I also hear the
Lord calling you to South Africa."
Since
that time I have had the strong desire to bring medicine and
ministry to the hurting people of Africa. There are still
over one billion human beings living in places where it is
unlikely they will ever hear good news unless someone goes
to tell them. The world is a violent place often inhospitable
to human life. There are over 50 ongoing wars taking place
right at this moment. There are 50 million uprooted people
who have had to flee their homes because of violence, disaster,
economics or a failing environment. There are one billion
people who do not have access to the basic social services
of health care, education, safe drinking water and adequate
nutrition. The gap between those with more than enough and
those who live on the margins of life is widening.
It
is our desire to help by standing in the gap, by providing
medicine, computers, sewing machines, clothes and whatever
resources available to help support the forgotten in the lands.
Jesus wept for a real Jerusalem, a Jerusalem ruled by Rome
and entrapped by religiosity rooted in human rules; a Jerusalem
of upper rooms, small shops, lepers and beggars. Let us learn
to weep for those who have nothing. This is the essence of
missions.
